Why Apple is evil

I couldn't resist ;)

Link of the day

Okay, I'm starting to hate these links of the day. I guess I should start some sort of linkblog, because it's not really wise to spam this blog with various links. Maybe I should look on blogger's templating abilities and search for some inline formatting for del.icio.us. You'll see changes here, if I'll find one :)

Oh, almost forgot. Here is some obvious, but pretty interesting stuff. :)

Searching for a perfect wiki. Again

Some time ago, I bashed on how every wiki in this world sucks. Few days ago I found wiki I was looking for (again). It's called Instiki. There's also a fork of this project, called pimki, which adds some functionality to it, like blog system.

Well, Instiki is a decent project, and for Mac users there's also a package, so you don't need to mess with anything else (like installing ruby and additional stuff), just run it and there you go - you have a fully working wiki on localhost:2500. Nice minimalistic (and intuitive) web interface, changelog and all the usual stuff you expect in wiki. There's one missing feature though - Instiki has no namespace support. And it seems developers don't care ;-( From their site:

This feature can be overused. Wikis were not meant to be hierachical. That’s why it should be limited to one level of sub-page. Some redundancy in the top-level namespace can be good. But too much redundancy clutters things up.

WTF? If someone wants to mess things up, he will do it one way or another. Why not to make this feature optional, so people who need it had a choice? If I want to make notes for some project, for example, would it be more intuitive to look for MyClassHasThisFuckingMethod and HeresAnotherClassWithTheSameFuckingMethodName or just Class/Method ? Oh, and don't say to me wikis were not intended to document your projects - it's just an example (and maybe not the best). But overall feeling of Instiki is good, so it seems I decided to stay with it.

Hm, it looks like a perfect time to make yet another ugly hack...

Link of the day

Here. There's some really amazing stuff in there...

Hm, it looks like my blog is only collection of some 'links of the day'. But I'm just too busy ( s/busy/lazy for blogging/ if you want) to post something new here. Well, maybe I'll write something on Easter, when I'll have to go to village and will have nothing to do ;-)
